Description
The once overly common residential tree due to fast growth and general hardiness. Like most vigorous growers, speed comes at the price of strength and silver maples have brittle wood. This tree is adaptable to a wide range of soil types but in the wild is often associated along floodplains with saturated soils. As a “soft” maple, seeds are produced in the springtime and the March flower is a source of pollen for select pollinators.
