Saskatoon serviceberry is a western native shrub occurring only within sections of Minnesota in the Midwest.  Form on drier rockier (poor) sites is more consistent with a small shrub.  In soils container higher organic matter, this serviceberry can achieve larger heights reaching a larger shrub / small understory tree.  Flowers are white and fragrant in the springtime replaced by edible fruit in summer preferred by both songbirds and people alike.
