Red pine is a large evergreen native to the northern midwest. It requires full sun and tolerates dry, well drained soils. The needles of this pine are incredibly long and are bundled in twos relative to white pine which is in fives. Will perform well on poor sites as long as drainage is good and summers are not too hot. In hot humid sections of the midwest red pine will not thrive and is subject to several diseases.
